Nairobi, 10th July 2024 – In anticipation of the upcoming Big Baraza Conference slated for 29th & 30th of July, SNDBX hosted a transformative entrepreneurship forum that gathered seventeen enterprising Gen-Z entrepreneurs alongside eight seasoned business development specialists. The event, held recently at SNDBX International, focused on addressing critical challenges and fostering support for young entrepreneurs in Kenya’s dynamic business landscape.
The forum opened with a candid exploration of the hurdles faced by young business leaders today. Key issues identified included inefficient business structures, navigating complex legal frameworks, financial management, overcoming the founder’s syndrome and struggles in effective marketing and client engagement. Participants also highlighted the critical need for accessible mentorship and supportive communities to mitigate challenges and foster sustainable growth.

“When I fall ill, or have something pressing to do, the business’s activities come to a halt. I would like to build a sustainable business that can run with and without me being physically present to make decisions,” said Njeri, a young business owner in the fashion industry.
A central theme of the discussion was the concept of effective collaboration and support for young entrepreneurs. The forum resonated with calls for mentorship from established industry leaders and emphasized the value of expansive networks for accessing insights, markets, and resources. Participants underscored the importance of tailored training programs and specialized resources, such as media studios, to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and capabilities.
The highlight of the forum was a robust dialogue on the inclusion of Gen-Z perspectives in high-profile discussions around SME & MSME development in Kenya. Participants unanimously advocated for increased representation and visibility in key forums to drive meaningful progress in the sector. The event concluded with a shared commitment to fostering inter-generational engagement and leveraging collaborative efforts to bolster Kenya’s economy through youth-led entrepreneurship.
“This forum marked a significant milestone in our commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs,” said Catherine Kabaki, Marketing Manager at SNDBX. “We are thrilled to see such strong enthusiasm and determination among Gen-Z leaders to drive innovation and economic growth in Kenya.”
The Gen-Z Entrepreneurship forum at SNDBX International served as a pivotal platform to amplify the voices and address the needs of young entrepreneurs, setting the stage for inclusive and impactful discussions at the upcoming Big Baraza Conference.
